World Food Programs svar på donationen:
"It comes at such a difficult time for us and while we are facing the biggest Humanitarian Emergency in the world. Your contribution will be programmed towards the Hait relief efforts. Below is, in very rough lines, a short outline of what we are currently doing in Haiti and how we plan to move forward.
In the week since the earthquake struck, WFP has delivered almost 1.5 million rations, equivalent to more than 4 million meals, to about a quarter of a million people.
In the coming days WFP is aiming to deliver 5 day rations to 100,000 people each day.
WFP has targeted orphanages and hospitals in recent days in order to reach the most vulnerable as a matter of priority.
As the lead food, logistics and telecommunications agency, WFP is opening up air, sea and land corridors, and rehabilitating emergency telecommunications systems for the entire humanitarian community.
Governments around the world have so far donated more than US$150 million towards WFP’s US$279 million programme to feed 2 million people and provide logistical and telecommunications support for a 6-month Emergency Operation.
Aftershocks have been continuing this week, including two significant tremors on Wednesday and Thursday. "
